Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Huntsville AL 1049 AM CDT Sat Sep 13 2025

...New NEAR TERM, SHORT TERM...

.NEAR TERM... (Rest of Today and Tonight) Issued at 1049 AM CDT Sat Sep 13 2025

High pressure will remain the dominant weather feature across the region this afternoon, with a mostly sunny sky and dry conditions. Ample sunshine will allow temperatures to climb into the upper 80s to lower 90s in most locations by late in the day. A good setup for radiational cooling in this clear/dry air mass tonight as temperatures will fall off quickly this evening. Eventually, they will settle in the lower 60s by early Sunday morning.

.SHORT TERM... (Sunday through Tuesday) Issued at 1049 AM CDT Sat Sep 13 2025

The Tennessee Valley will largely remain underneath the influence of an upper-ridge axis building across the lower Mississippi Valley, Mid South, and into the Great Lakes. However, an area of low pressure will also develop just off of the Atlantic Florida coastline by Monday which may begin to meander northward into the Carolinas by midweek. All this to say, expect more of the same in our area with plenty of warmth and sunshine, but a few more clouds could begin to filter into the region by Tuesday. Afternoon highs in the lower 90s will be common, with lows in the low to mid 60s.

&&

.LONG TERM... (Monday night through Friday) Issued at 843 PM CDT Fri Sep 12 2025

Little changes through next week for our weather has the upper low lifts slowly northeast through the mid Atlantic, allowing the mid and upper level ridge axis to shift east through the OH and TN valleys. This as an upper trough and low drop into the upper MS valley late next week. This may bring the next appreciable cold front southeast, albeit weakening as it does so. A dry forecast is being kept in place through Day 7, with rather persistent temperatures, with highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s and lows in the lower to middle 60s.

.AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 641 AM CDT Sat Sep 13 2025

Fog has impacted the KMSL terminal early this morning and may be an issue until around 14z. Otherwise, VFR conditions will persist with light/variable winds and clear skies.
