.DISCUSSION... Issued at 131 AM EDT Mon Sep 8 2025

Key Messages:

1. After a cool morning, temperatures will rise well into the 70s today with 80s mid-week. No rain is expected.

2. A warming trend will continue through the weekend with highs well into the 80s and continued dry conditions.

Discussion:

Currently, broad troughing is in place across the eastern U.S. with high pressure centered near the Great Lakes region. This has promoted subsidence and ideal conditions for radiational cooling with morning temperatures falling well into the 40s and 50s. Upper troughing and surface high pressure will lift further to the northeast during the first half of the week. This will promote a slight warming trend with mostly sunny conditions and no rain expected. Overnight radiational cooling will lead to a few more cool mornings. By late in the week, broad ridging will expand from the west with troughing to our east gradually lifting away from the area. This will continue the warming trend with temperatures rising back above normal through the weekend. Models differ on the large- scale pattern to our north and west during this time, but moisture will still remain limited in our area with weak flow. As such, no rain is forecast through the end of the period.
