A warm front moves northward on Sunday warming temperatures
into the upper 70s to low 80s, which is around 5 to 10 degrees
above normal. The warmest temperatures will be across western
Nebraska on the nose of the thermal gradient where highs will
reach the low 80s. There will be a weak trof across the Nebraska
Panhandle, but at this time weak forcing and limited
instability will keep the likelihood of shower/thunderstorm
development low and thus have kept PoPs out of the forecast for
Sunday.

Attention then turns to Monday as a shortwave trof moves
in from the Rockies along with a sfc front. Showers and
thunderstorms will be possible, with the best chance of storms in
the late afternoon/evening timeframe. There is the potential for
strong to severe thunderstorms along with heavy rainfall as both
have been outlooked by SPC and WPC. Expect thunderstorms to develop
along the sfc front, with the greatest threat for severe
thunderstorms generally along and east of HWY 83 with the
environment ahead of the front having 0 to 3km CAPE values around
1000 J/kg and deep-layer shear around 25 to 35 kts. After the front
pushes through Monday/Tuesday temperatures will cool into the 60s
for Tuesday, then moderate into the 70s for the remainder of the
week.

VFR conditions are expected over the next 24 hours. Winds will
be light out of the south around 5 kts this afternoon and switch
to the southeast in the evening. Winds across the northern
Sandhills will switch again to the southwest, overnight into
early Sunday morning, around 5 kts.
