.SHORT TERM...Today through Monday night...Smoky conditions
continue this morning but will see some improvement today with
winds aloft shifting to the south-southwest. A shortwave over
northern CA will move northeastward today over eastern OR by
this afternoon. This system will be the focus of scattered
showers and thunderstorms this afternoon over eastern OR and the
southwest ID highlands. Precipitable water content is about at
the 75th percentile, so storms could produce moderate rainfall
rates. Enough lift and moisture remains in place on Sunday
morning for isolated showers and thunderstorms over the Idaho
zones, with drier air moving into the area. The upper level
trough remains off the northern CA coast. Strong southwest flow
aloft arrives with a dry slot developing over the area, with
breezy west-southwest winds during Sunday afternoon.
Temperatures have trended warmer now through Monday as the upper
level trough remains offshore. Afternoon low RHs and breezy
conditions will be a fire concern over eastern OR and southwest
ID highlands on Sunday and Monday.
.LONG TERM...Tuesday through Saturday...The upper level trough
moves inland on Tuesday with a cold front moving through the
area. The trough will bring cooler conditions and a 20-40
percent chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms
through Thursday. Temperatures lower around 10 degrees below
normal Tuesday through Thursday before moderating to near normal
after the system moves eastward.

.AVIATION...low VFR with smoke layers. Isolated showers and
thunderstorms this morning, becoming scattered this afternoon.
Variable outflow gusts up to 40kt. Surface winds: variable
5-15kt. Winds aloft at 10kft MSL: S-SW 5-15kt.
KBOI...VFR. A slight chance of showers and storms. Surface
winds SE 5-10kt this morning, then variable 5-15kt during the
afternoon.
Sunday Outlook...VFR. Dry in OR. Isolated showers and
thunderstorms in ID morning through late afternoon. Breezy
southwest winds 10-20kt in eastern OR and southwest ID
highlands.
