Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Cleveland OH 309 PM EDT Tue Sep 9 2025

.SYNOPSIS... High pressure will persist across the region through the week. A cold front will move south through the area late Saturday into Sunday.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT/... Quiet weather is expected for the near term period with high pressure in place. Seasonable temperatures and generally light winds are expected on Wednesday with highs in the upper 70s to near 80. Given the weak MSLP gradient and warmer temperatures, a lake breeze will develop late Wednesday morning/early afternoon which will push lakeshore temperatures down into the low to mid-70s. Low temperatures will remain below average in the upper 40s to lower 50s.

&&

.SHORT TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT/... Quiet weather will persist for the short term period as another area of high pressure builds south across the Eastern Great Lakes. Seasonable temperatures will continue with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Persistent north to northeast flow of 10 mph resulting from being located on the western periphery of the high may lead to chillier temperatures along the lakeshore in the lower 70s. No precipitation is expected through Friday night.

&&

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/... Generally quiet and seasonable weather is favored to persist for the long term period, though a cold front may result in isolated to scattered rain showers Saturday night into Sunday. Confidence is on the lower end with regards to available moisture with the front, though the Saturday night into Sunday timing remains on track. Outside of the front, another area of high pressure appears to build south across the Great Lakes on Sunday into Monday, though a closed upper-level low near the Mid-Atlantic Coast may stunt its southern progression and influence.

&&

.AVIATION /18Z Tuesday THROUGH Sunday/... Dry weather and VFR conditions will persist through the TAF period as high pressure continues to influence the region. Generally light and variable flow continues, however some higher winds 8-12 knots with isolated gusts 15-20 knots may occur through sunset across southeastern terminals. Additionally, southerly winds at KCLE and KERI will flip northeasterly later this afternoon as a lake breeze develops. Can`t rule out some patchy MVFR/IFR fog to develop across Northwest Ohio, but confidence remains too low to include in the TAF at this time.

Outlook...Fair weather and VFR are likely through this Saturday.

&&

.MARINE... Northeasterly winds 5-10 knots this afternoon will turn southerly tonight as high pressure exits to the northeast. A weak cold front will cross the lake Wednesday night which will turn winds northerly to northeasterly through Friday. Southerly winds are expected to return on Saturday. Winds will remain at or below 10 knots with wave heights of 2 feet or less through the period. Daily lake breeze development will turn winds onshore during the afternoon and early evening hours Wednesday through Saturday.
