Today through Tuesday...
Warm and dry conditions forecast for the next 6 days at least,
with a chance (20-30%) arriving by Tuesday. Upper pattern shows a
ridge through Thursday, a weak but broad trof moving through
Friday, then more flat ridging and long fetch southerly flow for
the weekend into early next week. Broad Pacific trof nudges into
the area Monday night into Tuesday from the west.
As far as sensible weather, temperatures will be mainly in the
80s with a chance for 70s Friday as the broad trof cruises across
the area. This trof has been digging further south with
progressive runs pushing up the probabilities for highs cooler
than 80 degrees above 50 percent for central and eastern valley
areas, and above 70 percent most other locations. Along with the
cooler, though still above normal, temperatures will come
increased northwesterly winds for the Friday. Probabilities for
gusts over 20 mph are highest from Rosebud county east and from
Wheatland county southeast into Billings, at 50-90%. Saturday
warms back up with 80s anticipated through the weekend into
Monday. Tuesday looks like a transition day with a lot of
uncertainty in the models so for now looking at those increasing
precipitation chances and temperatures trending cooler than

VFR conditions will prevail across the forecast region. Winds
will remain light primarily out of the SW before a front moves
through from north to south between 10z (KMLS/BIL) and 16z (KSHR).
This will flip the winds to more of an NE direction while still
remaining light. WMR
