.DISCUSSION... Issued at 924 PM EDT Thu Sep 18 2025
The Keys remain in a rather wet pattern this evening due to upper troughing over the Gulf and precipitable water remaining quite high at around 2.2 inches. CAPE has been modest with some drier air creeping in through the layers above 500 mb. There was an abundance of boundaries this evening and provided a trigger for scattered to numerous showers across the Keys and surrounding waters. However, thunderstorms have been limited and short lived.
Deep layered moisture is expected to remain about the same through the overnight period, as is the trough aloft. However, the lower broad lower trough over the Bahamas is expected to sharpen some allowing the outer fringes of a modest high centered near the Central Gulf Coast to become more dominant across the area. This along with the current outflow boundary working its way southward through the Keys and adjacent waters should result in a quieter spell for the island chain in the upcoming hours. May consider nudging PoPs down for the balance of the overnight. Winds will be light to gentle and broadly northeasterly. Expect lows in the upper 70s with dew points in the mid 70s.

.MARINE... Issued at 924 PM EDT Thu Sep 18 2025
Disorganized high pressure over the southeast and Gulf, in concert with broad troughing over the Bahamas, will result in broadly gentle northeasterly breezes on Keys waters overnight. No changes planned for the evening marine update.
