.DISCUSSION... Issued at 245 AM CDT Sat Sep 27 2025

Not much change across the region this morning, with upper ridging still in place over the Plains between two upper lows over the Southeast and Southwest. Surface high pressure has moved a bit to our southeast, bringing in a slight southerly component to low-level winds. A few high clouds are also moving in ahead of a decaying cold front. This should help make for less shallow fog compared to the past couple sunrises, though still expect a bit given the light winds and mid-50s temperatures.

The quiet weather will continue for the next week as both upper and surface ridging stay centered nearby. Diurnal temperature spreads will stay fairly large, with highs mostly in the mid 80s and lows in the 50s. Should see an increase in cloud cover Monday into Tuesday as the Southwest upper low moves east onto the Plains and becomes sheared out, but the effects of this will be limited to just slightly cooler afternoons and slightly warmer nights. Starting to see some hints of the upper ridge finally moving off to the east with stronger troughing developing to our west. However even if so, this likely wouldn`t be until later next weekend, beyond the end of the current forecast period.
