Patchy fog is possible mainly in the river valleys this morning,
so travel with caution. A large ridge of high pressure remains in
place from the Great Lakes down into the MS Valley as Tropical
Storm Imelda remains off the Southeast`s Atlantic Coast. A
boundary cutting through the TN Valley combined with the moisture
filtering in from TS Imelda will allow for a low chance (10-20%)
of showers and thunderstorms mainly E of I-65, with the best
chances in NE AL. This lines up with SPC`s new general thunder
outlook area. Daytime highs will be warm, reaching the lower 80s
across NE AL and southern middle TN where there will be more cloud
cover, to the mid and upper 80s elsewhere. For reference, normal
temps for the end of September is 82 at MSL and HSV.

The above mentioned tropical systems for the next several days
should continue on a northward path. These systems will help
deepen mid/upper level troughing, this time further to the east
off of the east coast. Upper level ridging should return over the
eastern CONUS for the mid week.
With higher heights from ridging and a continuation of mostly
sunny skies, daily high/low temperatures for the Tue/Wed/Thu
timeframe should range from around 80/lower 80s higher elevations
and east, to mid/upper 80s west. Lows will range mainly in the
lower 60s. No precipitation is expected into Thursday, which will
enhance an on-going dryspell much of the area is going through.

The late week period will shape up to be pretty nice as high pressure
centered over the Northeast continues to enforce a dry and cooler
airmass down into the Tennessee Valley. The upper ridge will slowly
meander to the east toward the later half of the weekend and there is
some evidence of a shortwave disturbance preceding an upper trough
that may bring chances for showers and storms on Sunday. This
appears to be an outlier for now, but will need to monitor trends as
we get to the later part of the week. We will maintain a dry forecast
through Monday with highs in the upper 70s/mid 80s each afternoon and
lows in the mid 50s to mid 60s.

VFR weather is forecast for the TAF. That said, longer early fall
nights could allow late night, patchy fog to form. Most of the
guidance remained fog free so did not include it in the forecast.
Light winds overnight should increase to 4-8kt from the NE.
Greater moisture could result in scattered VFR clouds this
afternoon, more so over the KHSV terminal and to the east. Shower
activity in this moisture should remain east of KMSL and KHSV.
Any showers that form should dissipate around sunset, with winds
become light and variable in the evening.
