.SHORT TERM... (Friday night through Sunday night) Issued at 1231 AM CDT Fri Sep 12 2025
Overnight lows Friday into Saturday are expected to not recover much, with most of the area only getting down into the low 70s.
A much broader trough will continue to move through the western CONUS, pushing the ridge to the east. In turn, afternoon highs will be a few degrees cooler Saturday afternoon. Most of the area will see upper 80s to low 90s, with some mid 90s possible across southwestern portions of the area. Precipitation chances increase Saturday evening through Sunday morning, mainly across western and northern Oklahoma and adjacent western north Texas. A slower progression of this system may continue to limit the expansive nature of the precipitation. Nevertheless, trends in this activity will be monitored.
The aforementioned trough will push through the Plains Sunday, so afternoon highs will be a few degrees cooler. No additional rain chances are expected with this system.
&&
.LONG TERM... (Monday through Thursday) Issued at 1231 AM CDT Fri Sep 12 2025
At least some weaker ridging aloft will move back in next week, keeping afternoon temperatures from getting below the upper 80s. Medium range models would suggest a breakdown of the ridge by midweek, with additional rain chances possible across much of the area.
