.DISCUSSION... Issued at 209 PM CDT Sun Sep 28 2025

Tranquil conditions across Iowa today with high pressure allowing for light wind and clear skies. With dry conditions in place deep mixing has allowed temperatures to warm into the low to mid 80s so far this afternoon. The dry air and deep mixing has resulted in temperatures a few degrees too low the past few days, so increased Monday maximum temperatures over NBM to account for this. High pressure will remain in place throughout the work week with highs in the 80s and lows in the upper 50s to low 60s. The large blocking pattern is largely unchanged until the upcoming weekend a when a trough may pass across the area, bringing the next chance for precipitation. Uncertainty remains at this time range and is enhanced due to uncertainty in how the block high will interact with the two tropical systems off the east coast this week.
