.DISCUSSION... Issued at 153 AM CDT Wed Sep 10 2025
Quiet conditions ongoing are across the area early this Wed morning...though temps were a bit warmer this morning than earlier in the week. Even so...temps had still dropped into the upper 50s to upper 60s. Winds will generally light and variable...but will switch to the south for this afternoon...though remain generally less than 10 kts. These SRLY winds will allow for continued warming from previous days...with highs in the mid 80s to low 90s.
A weak upper wave will drop SE into NWRN AR late this afternoon/evening...with mainly some increased cloud cover expected. Have introduced some low end POPs for some isolated convection that look possible with this upper wave. This will be mainly over NRN/NWRN sections. Most other areas should remain dry.
Flow aloft will transition from a NWRLY direction today to more NRLY by late this week as an upper ridge expands west of AR. This upper ridge will slowly expand and drift east over the region...allowing for temps to continue to warm through the end of the week. Looks like temps will peak over the weekend with the center of the upper ridge over the region. Highs will warm into the upper 80s to upper 90s...though there could still be a few isolated spots hitting the triple digit mark. Oppressive/excessive heat looks to remain at bay thankfully as dewpts will not increase much with no major moisture return...and continue lack of any significant rainfall in the next week. As a result...heat index values will hover near dry bulb temps for most areas.
Expect the upper ridge to remain either over the region...or at least nearby into early next week...with no major relief expected in the above normal temps. This will also keep the forecast primarily dry into next week.
