.SHORT TERM... (Tonight through Saturday Night) Issued at 1030 PM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025

The cold front has completed its passage through Middle Tennessee and temperatures have dropped a good 6 to 8 degrees with the northerly wind. Very light showers linger across the Plateau tonight that are fizzling out. Satellite shows most of Middle TN is sitting under clear skies and further clearing is expected across our east in the coming hours. Areas of dense fog will be likely tonight, mainly on the Cumberland Plateau and in any hollers.

A positively-tilted trough will swing its axis across the southeast tomorrow, bringing low to medium rain chances around 20-40% mainly to areas east of I-65. An eventual cutoff low developing within this trough will the meander over our east as we head into the weekend. The only influence this feature will have on our weather will be an increase in cloud cover across, you guessed it, our eastern counties. It`s shaping up to be a pleasant weekend overall with mostly dry conditions and temperatures gradually warming each day as ridging builds in from the west. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s with overnight lows in the mid 50s.

.LONG TERM... (Sunday through next Friday) Issued at 1030 PM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025

Moving into next week, the most notable feature is a tropical disturbance that is currently brewing near the Bahamas. Deterministic models currently favor this low`s path to eventually track into the east coast. At this point, the NBM is only yielding low PoP around 20% during the Tuesday-Thursday timeframe. It`s a ways out and there`s still plenty of uncertainty, but the additional moisture could bring showers and, in turn, temperatures back to near normal values, in the low to mid 80s.

.AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 617 AM CDT Fri Sep 26 2025

Patchy dense (IFR/LIFR conditions) will lift over the next 1-2 hours with VFR conditions returning for most. Low cigs will linger until 17z over the Plateau. Then we will see VFR conditions for the remainder of the TAF period with quiet conditions. There is a low chance for afternoon showers over the Plateau. Light northerly winds under 7 knots.
