...New AVIATION...
.NEAR TERM... (Today) Issued at 222 AM CDT Fri Sep 12 2025
Thunderstorms over NW AL continue to track south early this morning. The strongest of the storms has moved south of the area but we will continue to monitor for additional showers and storms over the next few hours. With clear skies outside of this activity, some fog has developed in the valley areas of NE AL. This will also be monitored in case a Dense Fog Advisory is needed later this morning, but so far observations have kept visibilities above 5 miles. Otherwise the previous forecast remains on track.
Previous forecast: Residual moisture, especially in those areas that recently received measurable rainfall, and those more favored spots could be impacted by fog late tonight. Fog should remain patchy to areal in coverage, and could become dense locally. Low temperatures otherwise should cool into the low/mid 60s with light winds.
Despite a mean NW upper flow and surface high pressure over the Mid Atlantic, another very warm and mostly sunny day is expected to end the work week. High temperatures today should rise into the mid 80s to around 90.

.SHORT TERM... (Friday night through Sunday) Issued at 946 PM CDT Thu Sep 11 2025
Dry conditions, with very warm to hot conditions are expected for the upcoming weekend. Fri/Sat night should feature seasonably cool conditions with lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Patchy late night fog cannot be ruled out either night, given light winds, mostly clear skies and longer late summer nights (that allow more radiative cooling). Highs Sat/Sun should range from the mid/upper 80s higher elevations, to low/mid 90s the warmest spots.
&&
.LONG TERM... (Sunday night through Thursday) Issued at 946 PM CDT Thu Sep 11 2025
A mean troughing pattern along the eastern seaboard should continue was we go into the new week. Our location well to the SE of a frontal boundary over the Great Plains will help keep a dry and warm trend going through the middle of next week. Upper ridging positioned just west of the coastal trough should also maintain its location. Thus daily highs for the Mon-Thu time frame should range from the mid/upper 80s in the higher elevations and more eastern locations, with low/mid 90s expected for the lower elevations, especially west of I-65. Low temperatures each night should average in the low/mid 60s.

.AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 615 AM CDT Fri Sep 12 2025
VFR conditions will continue through the TAF period with mostly clear skies and light/var winds prevailing. There is a low chance fog could impact the KMSL terminal this morning, but confidence was too low to include in TAFs at this time.
