.DISCUSSION... Issued at 144 PM CDT Tue Sep 9 2025

Tonight through Wednesday night: Afternoon satellite imagery showed the circulation around an upper level trough over our CWA and a disturbance along the southeast Louisiana and Mississippi Gulf coast. Local radars showed scattered thunderstorms moving west northwest over southeast Louisiana. Models suggest the disturbance will help develop a few showers and thunderstorms this afternoon over our southern zones. After the rain chances end in the south by this evening, there is no chance of rain forecast through Monday night. Wednesday the upper level troughing will shift east while ridging over the central CONUS shifts east as well and begins to affect our CWA. This will allow temperatures to top out warmer than normal and in the lower 90s at most locations. Our normal highs run in the upper 80s. Wednesday night wl still have northwest flow aloft and surface ridging from the northeast. This will continue to limit the return of deep moisture over our CWA. Normal lows run in the mid 60s. Lows Thursday morning will range from 63-68F.

Thursday through Monday night: The omega block with ridging over the central CONUS will last through Monday even as the ridge axis shift to become centered nearly over the Mississippi river. The surface ridging from the northeast will continue over our region as well. This will allow for a warming trend through the period highs topping out in the mid to upper 90s by Monday. The surface ridge will continue to help limit moisture return and although it will be hot, the lower relative humidity will mitigate and heat stress concerns as peak heat index values look to remain below 105F. the latest Drought Monitor is showing abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions across our northern zones. Without any rainfall in the forecast along with the hot temperatures, conditions are expected to worsen. /22/
