.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

- Warming temperatures are expected starting today through Tuesday.

- Models are pointing towards some precipitation chances at times starting Tuesday night and continuing on and off the remainder of the week.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

Upper level ridge builds over the region today and remains in place through Monday with warm and dry weather. Highs on Sunday and Monday will be in the 80s in most areas and there is currently around a 10 percent chance of some areas along and south of US 2 having a high of 90 degrees or warmer.

Meanwhile, models and ensembles have trended warmer on Tuesday when the ridge moves to the east and the flow aloft becomes south to SW aloft. Some areas could have highs above 90 on Tuesday. NBM currently is giving the Missouri River Valley east of Fort Peck Lake and the Yellowstone River Valley a 30 to 50 percent chance of a high of 90 or higher on Tuesday. Prefrontal compressional warming is also expected on Tuesday.

A cold front is expected either Tuesday night or Wednesday morning with chances for showers in most areas.

Wednesday and beyond, SW flow aloft is expected with chances for showers at times and somewhat cooler temperatures.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:

Confidence in temperature forecast is very high today through Monday and moderate to high on Tuesday.

Confidence in rain forecast chances Tuesday night and beyond is low due to differences in model and ensemble timing.

Raised temperatures slightly on Tuesday. Otherwise, no deviations from NBM.
